In a very tight game against Penarth CC u15s and set 144 to win Cowbridge CC run chase was excellent and they got the runs with 3 balls to spare.
There were excellent displays from both sides in a windy and cold evening. Some great bowling from Joe Phillips, Theo Walker, Alfie Cogbill and Ben Smart kept the runs below 150 where 2 Penarth batsman scored quickly and mounted up a large total. Coming up the hill was difficult with a blustery wind especially during Penarth innings.
Cowbridge got off to a methodical start batting making sure they had wickets to spare and accumulating runs to give them a chance through the middle and end overs to score quickly with wickets left.
Theo Walker and Alfie Cogbill having an unbroken stand of 95 for the 2nd wicket, until Theo Walker retired on 50 not out. Alfie Cogbill scoring 39 with 2 large 6s and needing 10 off the last over Ollie Saxton with Ollie Morgan brought Cowbridge Home. Ollie Saxton hitting 2 cover drives off the first 2 balls of the last over for 4 and then both running 2 off the third ball of the over.
A great win that was well supported by parents with a few players making U15 debuts for Cowbridge CC. Cowbridge now will await their opponents for the group semi final.
